If you've demoted your ROOT administrator account to another usergroup then the only way you can retain admin access again is if you've got another user on your board with admin control panel access. However, please make notice that they won't be able to restore you back to the ROOT administrator group unless they're a ROOT administrator themselves.
If another user on your board has admin control panel access then they can restore you to administrator status by following these steps.
- Click on the Admin CP link at the top of the page.
- On the left-side of the interface, select the Users and Groups sub-heading.
- Click on the Find/Edit/Suspend User link under the Users & Groups category.
- Input the member's name who has been demoted in the Member Quick Search box & click Find Member.
- Click on the Edit Details link.
- Under Member Security Settings find the Member Group option and select the Admin usergroup from the drop down menu.
- Click on the Edit this member button to save your changes.
I would also suggest making a backup administrator account on your forum. Just go in, register a new member, and follow the steps above to make them an administrator. This way you have two administrator accounts on your forum in case something happens to your main account (ie. losing admincp access). Then all you would have to do is log in under your backup account and fix it.
We also would like to inform you all about the
Forumer Admin Panel (FAP)
This feature is restore your Admin CP access if you are registered and if you somehow lose your admin privileges. You can read a tutorial about the FAP account
here.
