The
My Controls system setting is a function that enables the user to edit all there personal contact information. This document will provide you with an overview of each setting in user controls.
My Controls When you click on the My Controls link located at the top of the page you'll be lead into a new screen which will contain all your personal content. Every member has there own control center, this sector of the board is
only viewable by you.
Main Heading - Menu This sector is the general main menu of all the sub-menu's and such.
Sub Heading - Messenger Under messager you'll find the following options:
- Compose New Message - This section allows you to compose a new personal message and send it too another user(s). Under Choose from your address book this is were you select a member that you might have added too your address book, it makes sending messages alot easier since you can simply select the member from the list instead of typing in the user(s) screen name. Under OR Enter the members name here is were you input the user(s) name you wish to send the PM to. Under You may enter up to 10 names in the carbon copy box is were you may enter X amount of usernames to send the message too (viewable only if set via Admin CP). Under Message Title is were you input your message's title (example: "Hi, how are you?"). Under the sub-heading Enter your Post is were you input the message you wish to send to the user(s). Once you've completed typing your message you'll see two options located above the Send Message button, they are:
1) Add a copy of this message to my sent items folder (This box is check marked by default, if you un-check mark it a copy of the message won't be added too your sent items folder, if it remains check marked a copy will be added).
2) Track this message? (This box is un-check marked on default, if you track the message you may delete it from the user's inbox whom you sent the message to via Message Tracker).
- Go to Inbox - This section will take you to your inbox section were you may read over all new/old PM's you got. You can jump from folder to folder by selecting the folder you wish to go to from the drop drown menu. You may also delete and/or keep any messages you wish too.
- Sent Items - This section is basicly like your inbox only it will direct you to the messages you've sent to others. You can jump from folder to folder by selecting the folder you wish to go to from the drop drown menu. You may also delete and/or keep any messages you wish too.
- Empty PM Folders - This section will all you to empty all your PM folders by check marking the box for each folder and clicking on the Contine button. (Note: Once a PM is gone, it's gone for good, there is no way to get it back so empty at your own risk).
- PM Buddies/Block List - This section will allow you to update your block/buddies list by inputing there username and enabling them to message you or not, once you've completed the updatation click on the Add this member to my address book button.
- Edit Storage Folders - This section will allow you to add more folders into your inbox by inputing the folder name in the box provided and clicking on the Submit Changes button.
- Archive Messages - This section is where archived messages will be compiled into a single file and emailed to your address as an attachment of your choice. Select the folder you want to archive and from the drop down menu select the archive options you wish to use. Once you've clicked on the Process button you'll be sent an e-mail with an attachment of the messages you have archived, feel free to keep this e-mail or dispose it at your own risk.
- Saved (Unsent) PMs - This section is were all your unsent/saved messages will be stored. From this section you may edit and/or delete the messages you've choose to kept.
- Message Tracker - This section tracks all PM's you've sent across the board (note: it will only track them if when sending you check mark the "Track this message?" box). By tracking messages you can delete them from others inbox before they even get a chance to read them by check marking the PM's and clicking on the Delete button. You may also end tracking which will simply stop the tracking of the message selected.
Sub Heading - Subscriptions Under subscriptions you'll find the following options:
- View Topics - This section will allow you to broswe over topics that you've subscribed to. You may Unsubscribe by clicking on the Unsubscribe button.
- View Forums - This section will allow you to broswe over the forums that you've subscribed to. You may the select the Unsubscribe from all forums link which will unsubscribe you from all forums.
Sub Heading - Personal Profile Under personal profile you'll find the following options:
- Edit Profile info - This section will allow you to edit your personal contact information such as: Your MSN contact information, your AIM, your e-mail, your interests, etc. Once you've completed editing your personal contact information click on the Amend my profile button.
- Edit Signature - This section will allow you to edit the signature you wish to use on the board, you may input simple text as your signature or use images by using the IMG tag's. Once you've completed editing your signature too your liking click on the Update my signature button.
- Edit Avatar Settings - This section will allow you to edit your avatar on the board. You may select a avatar from the galley or upload/link to your own custom avatar. If you'd like to remove your avatar then click on the Remove Avatar button, if you'd like to update your avatar click on the Update Avatar button.
- Change Personal Photo - This section will allow you to specify a photo to be used in your profile which is viewable by other board members.
All photos must be no larger than 150 kB and no bigger than 200 pixels by 200 pixels. You may upload the photo, or direct link it from an image host of some sort.
If you'd like to remove your personal photo then click on the Remove Photo button, if you'd like to update your personal photo click on the Update Photo button.
Sub Heading - Options Under options you'll find the following options:
- Email Settings - This section will allow you to edit your e-mail settings here 's an overview of all the sub-titles and there functions within this sector:
Privacy Settings
1) Hide my email address from other members
Enabling this option will deny other members sending you an email via the board.
2) Send me any updates sent by the board administrator
Enabling this option will add your email address to the administrators mail list and you will receive any updates sent.
Board Preferences
1) Include a copy of the post when emailing me from a subscribed topic
Enabling this option will send a plain text version of the post in the subscription email.
2) Send a confirmation email when I receive a new private message
Enabling this option will send an email confirmation of any new private messages sent to you.
3) Enable 'Email Notification' by default?
Enabling this option will automatically subscribe you to any topic you start or reply to.
Once you've completed editing your e-mail settings click on the Amend my e-mail settings button.
- Board Settings - This section will allow you to adjust the base time zone setting by selecting your time zone form the drop down menu. It will also allow you to edit your board display settings, you'll have the option of toggling the following options with a yes/no/numbered answer:

Once you've completed editing this sector to your own custom liking click on the Change my Account Options button.
- Skin and Languages - This section will allow you to change the skin (sorry but your currently not enable to do this) of your board. It will also allow you to change the language (sorry but your currently not allowed to do this) of your board.
Hopefully soon Forumer will come up with some language & skin packs which will enable these settings.
- Change Email Address - This section will allow you to change the e-mail address you signed up with on the board, once you enter this screen you'll have to input your new e-mail address and current password, once you change your board e-mail you'll be sent an e-mail to your new address as you will need to validate your account again. Once you've completed editing your e-mail address settings click on the Change my Email Address button.
- Change Password - This section will allow you to change your password.
You will need to enter your old password and then type in your new password twice in the box's provided. Once you've completed editing your password click on the Change my Password button.
