Category Name
- Give good and small names, to attract people to the selected forum
- Do not add things such as (^,&,*,%,$,#,@) and my favorite (.: :.) thoughs look very bad.
- Do things such as (Home, Prime, Main, News) that is something members look for, at a good forum
Category State "Unless disabled, categories will show in search selection box" which it says right next to the "drop down" box.
- Visible - Accessable to eveyone, however, it won't be seen unless you make forums.
- Disabled - It will not work, no one can ever do anything. Permission Mask will not work in this

Add to which parent?
- Add to which parent? - Now you may not know what this is, however, it is where you place your forum. Now when you start out there is a "Text Forum" welcoming you to your forum. When you add a new forum, and sometimes forget to delete that forum it says "Category" right next the name. Under it, it says "---- (ForumName) " that is what will be shown to public.
Forum State The 2 selected things you may pick are "
Active" and "
Read-Only"
- Active - Able to Read, Reply, Start, Upload
- Read-Only - Only able to read the, Forum Name, and the Description. Now an adminstrator I believe is able to post in there.
Forum Name and Description
- Forum Name - Give a good name, for what you are pointing out to do in this forum. If you put "Games" and people are posting Computer like things, you might aswell change the name
- Forum Description - Give some brief information of what you can do, and what your only aloud to do
Allow new topics and posts in this forum?
- If yes, any sub-forums will be displayed above the normal topic list, if there are no sub-forums to show, it will display the topic list as normal
Select either "Yes" or "No"
Note -
This option will have no effect if you use another forum as a parent for this new forum Forum Redirect Options
- URL to redirect this forum to - This is where, when they click the forum it will redirect them to the selected destination
- Target to redirect to? - Leave blank or use '_self' to load in same browser window
- Switch on the URL redirect? - If 'yes' you can skip to the forum permission as the settings will have no effect and this forum will act like as a redirect link. Current posts will not be accessible when on.
- Redirect clicks to date - xx
Postable Forum Options This is the "
Yes" and "
No" section.
- Allow use of the [doHTML] tag? - This will allow HTML to be posted and executed
- Allow IBF CODE to be posted? - I have never, used this. I'm not to sure what it does.
- Turn on the Quick Reply Box? - Instead of having to have all the "BBCodes and Emotions" it is just a box able to make a message.
- Allow Polls in this forum (when allowed)? - To vote Ideas, and new things or things members want
- Allow votes to bump a topic? - This would make it so when you make a poll and someone votes, the topic will be the first one again.
- Posts in this forum increase member's cumulative post count? - This will either "Increase" or "Decrease" members post count
- Moderate postings? - (Requires a moderator to manually add posts/topics to the forum)
- Email addresses to send new topic awaiting approval notification - (Leave this box empty if you do not require this)
- Require password access? - (Leave this box empty if you do not require this)
- Default date cut off for topic display - Last 30 Day's is default
- Default sort key - This will choose how you sort out the forums by.
- Default sort order - A - Z or Z - A
Permission Mask's You can manage your forum permission masks from this section.
Used by Groups relates to the member groups that use this permission mask
Used by Members relates to the number of members that have this permission mask set to over ride the group used permission mask
Preview the forums this mask has access to in a quick, convenient format
